• This project is an example of how bo-mar brings small ideas to life in a big way. The client had an off-the-shelf light fixture that was the perfect design – but only 6 inches tall. When our engineers projected the design to a scale that would fit the building, each fixture was 4 feet tall!
  • Our first challenge was to reduce weight. As drawn, each fixture would have weighed more than 100 pounds. Much of that weight was in the ring at the top, which was nearly 5 feet in diameter. Our engineers found a way to maintain the look but minimize the weight.
  • We also wanted to maintain the translucent look of the original fixture using the most affordable method. We found these clear glass tubes and then sandblasted them to achieve the right look.
  • In the end, we built 20 supersized fixtures that look like they came from the same manufacturer who made the original, 6-inch-tall light.
